Ministry of Defence proposes humanitarian changes to the Constitution

Minister of Defence, Lorena Escudero, has proposed major constitutional changes to the National Advice Commission on the issue of human rights.

According to Escudero, the Ministry of defence has a duty to look for changes to consolidate the democratic system, including the invigoration of human rights and the respect and promotion of social laws and liberties.

Regarding the participation of the Armed forces in economic activities, she intends that a "secondary intervention exist in the population's social and economic development". In other words more autonomy will exist with the people of Ecuador, as opposed to a decision by one or two politicians
