"The Further Adventures of Keith L Cullen" is a blog that documents traveller Keith Cullen's trip through Central and South America. This hilarious and thought provoking blog follows Keith as he attempts to fit into a new culture, learn a new language and meet fellow travellers and locals.

Originally from Ireland, Keith ventured from his hometown to Guatemala in January of this year. While the blog was created to document his travels for his friends and family, it is an entertaining and informative read for anyone thinking of travelling to South America, or for those looking for a first hand account of South American culture.

The blog is written in shorthand. Between this and Keith’s Irish jargon, it can be a bit confusing upon first glance. At times it is like reading Keith’s thought process (which can be especially entertaining during his less-than-sober posts). Once making it through the first few articles, however, reading Keith’s writing style becomes second nature. And make no mistake, sticking it out and continuing to read Keith’s blog is more than worth a few moments of confusion.

Keith’s descriptions of each country are rich and detailed. While in Vilcabamba, Keith writes, “The beauty of this place is only matched by the strangeness and in some cases down right evilness of its inhabitants. There is a price for serenity....” (http://elhombrekeithcullen-keith.blogspot.com/2007/06/valley-of-longevity-is-sordid-place.html).

Keith makes you feel as if you are right there beside him, exploring the strange new culture and customs of each place he visits. His writings are raw and truthful, concealing nothing, including a few less desirable details such as his experience with stomach flu while in banos, or his hilarious re-enactment of a fellow traveller trying to purchase medication by miming his ailment to the storeowner while in Mexico. Finding your way around the site is simple. Articles are broken down into months, with an update approximately once a week. I recommend starting at the beginning of his writings. Like a good book, once you get started, it’s hard to stop reading.
