Correa pays tribute to ETA bomb victims in Madrid

The president of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, has visited Madrid to pay tribute to last years ETA bomb victims and to his countrymen who are currently living in Spain.

Upon arrival Correa carried out a floral offering in Terminal Four, where two Ecuadorian citizens' died in the attack by the Basque terrorist organization ETA on December 30 of last year.

He was greeted by the families of the two victims, Carlos Palate and Diego Estacio, who joined the President in a minute of silence in the terminal.

The Ecuadorian president said he was "very excited". He thanked the Spanish Government for "the solidarity that it has shown" and it expressed his adherence with the "countrymen that live in Spain."

He also stated Ecuador’s commitment to avoid a future tragedy, and stated that "he wish to avoid further people leaving their homeland because they couldn't find the education, health, work or housing."

The Ecuadorian president was greeted by citizens of his country that were in passing in the airport from Madrid.

One person screamed " Welcome President", while another lady commented that she was very proud of the president's presence in Spain and she told him, "we that are outside, depend on you".
