Columbia wants Ecuadorian 'brotherhood'

The Colombian chancellor Fernando Araújo has proposed to his Ecuadorian counterpart María Fernanda Espinosa that the two countries "brace in a brotherhood" over the issue of coca cultivations on the boarder.

"My proposal is that we meet to revise the subject and talk as if we were brothers", she said.

The Colombian chancellor's proposal took place after Espinosa announced that the diplomatic dialogue with Bogotá, the capital of Columbia, was in a bad state and that she was prepared to take the case before the International Court of The Hague due to the air aspersions that are being leaked onto Ecuador's border area.

The position was reaffirmed this Wednesday by the president Rafael Correa who said that "Columbia has to take the responsibility for what has made these last seven years with the pollution."
