Chelsea Bar

Chelsea Bar creates an ambience to set up any classic night in Quito. Upon entering, you can either take a seat outside on one of the outdoor tables, or adventure inside where you will find a plethora of comfy chairs and classy tables to sit at.

Chelsea boast over 25,000 songs, all hand selected by the in house DJH, all complete with their music videos which you can see on one of the eight screens, including an overhead projector which can expand to 6 feet across.

The bar has the potential to turn itself into a dance floor in the early hours, when people start to feel the buzz of a weekend night.

The drinks menu is arguably the most impressive asset of the bar, with two professional cocktail barmen serving the best drinks in the business. One of them, Hector from Columbia, said that ‘they had only begun to make the menu' which already boasts over 20 cocktails including an impressive array of Martinis, Margaritas and shots.

The bar is also a restaurant, with food is served all day starting with breakfast at 8AM until closing. There is no official closing time, but Pedro is willing to keep the place open until 6AM on a busy night of partying.

The bar, named after the London football team, was coloured red after the owner mistakenly identified Chelsea team captain in a red England shirt as opposed to a Chelsea shirt who never play in red.

With an atmosphere of a 24 hour party, day in day out at Chelsea the owner looks to bring in several deals including the 7 o'clock beer ‘free for all' where the barmen will give out beer for 15 minutes. Don't worry about downing your beer and asking for another; that's all a part of the deal.

The best of the rest Menu

Waterfall Congac, Blue Curaco, Cointrau

Described as a drink to ‘set your night of' or to finish it with a bang, the Waterfall is bound to have you on the floor couging after this epic of a drink.

Balancing three glasses on top each other, you are armed with a straw and asked nicely to ‘mind your head from the fire'. On the count of three, you suck three shots as they are poured into the base glass all of which are ‘flamed'.

With the attention of the entire bar at this point, it takes a strong throat to handle all three and few finish the lot. Excellent fun, however.

Chelsea Martini Vodka, Gin, Compari

Not to everyone's taste by any means but astute for all you Martini lovers. With the traditional mix of vodka and gin, the Compari adds that small kick at the end of each gulp that will leave you feeling chirpy afterwards.

Sour Chelsea Medore Liquor, Apple, Sweet and Sour

Certainly an easy drink to go down, and one perhaps for later on in the night to pick you up from the beer melee. Several twists all the way to the bottom of the glass the Sour Chelsea will prove a popular choice with any Margarita lover.

New Castle Pineapple, Orange, Cranberry, Triple Sec, Amereto, Rum

A long long drink that suits most female drinkers on the town. The drink is served in a 2 pint glass which is about a foot high and never receives any complaints from the public. Sweet but potent this one certainly to carry you through for many hours, this drink represents value for money all the way to Newcastle.
