Canada Day

I wasn't really looking forward to going out last night. We had been invited to a party on a boat to watch the Canada Day fire works, but col didn't get off work til 930 and the boat was leaving at 9. Haley had been in charge of making alternative plans, but cancelled last minute in favor of hanging out with her newest boyfriend, so as of 5 we were officially planless....

But it was canada day. We had all bought new things to wear, and drinks to drink and spent way too much time getting ready so we decided to make the best of it.
Christina came over around 6. We wanted to have a few drinks before leaving, but my nan wouldnt leave us, so we offered her a cooler and drank with her. it was hilarious. She told us old stories and thought that my playboy bunny shooters were just little glasses.

Headed downtown around 830 to meet up with the others. Col wasnt off work til 930 so we wandered around the waterfront and bought some food and took lame pictures of each other. Stayed down for the fireworks. It is the first time i have been down to see them since i was younger. They were much less interesting than i remembered, but it was funny hearing people oooh-ing and ahh-ing in unison at the meager display.

Christinas cousin got us into this new-ish nightclub that none of us had been to before. It was a really cool design on the inside but kind of boring. It finally filled up around 12. Stayed and danced till close, then went to boomers to meet up with one of col's many boys.

Had an accidental meeting with my ex from high school. We ended up staying up all night talking and catching up. It was fun until i had to leave for brunch with the family, still a little intoxicated and overtiered.

Today ive lazed around researching ecuador. Im getting more and more excited the closer it gets. Still havent heard back fromthe school but I have a meeting on Wednesday so everything should be sorted out after that. seriously considering taking the year off so that I can spend some more time in Quito. There is so much that I want to see and I dont want to feel rushed becasue of school. There is plenty of time to finish my degree, and who knows if i will ever get another opertunity like this (although I hope many more similar adventures follow close in its footsteps).

Tonight Is Dani's going away party. She is leaving for Costa Rica tomorrow for the rest of the summer. We are going out for martinis at 6, then down to club Caliente to dance. Everyone is leaving. Its so sad. The twins are up modeling in Barcelona, then heading to madrid for the year, George has been up working for the govrenment in Ottawa since may, Billy just announced last minute that he had bought a ticket to greece and was moving up there for the summer, Dani's going to be gone till the end of august and Colleen is planning to take next year off to travel Europe.

Working on a story on staying in touch while away...mostly for my own interest due to my friends recent interest in travelling....but im sure others must want to know what the cheapest way of staying in touch is too.....other than email of course.

And still trying to nail down that interview on firecoral. My interviewee is in the process of moving so hopefully I will be able to get it this week once things settle in.
