Trains in Ecuador

The train is not the most effective way of getting around Ecuador. There are only a few small train rides available in Ecuador and those are only used by tourists. The most popular ride is the idyllic trip from Riobamba called 'Naiz Del Diablo'. It takes you through stunning natural areas in the Andes and is considered one of the best train rides in the world. Sitting on the roof of the train and absorbing the Andes is certainly worth your time.

Still, if you want to go to the final destination without any fuss, the Nariz Del Diablo is not very effective or economic, just like the other train rides offered in Ecuador. Get on the bus and be there a lot quicker.

So, as a way of transportation, the train is probably one of the least effective ways to travel in Ecuador. Consider it to be a nice tourist attraction.
